What is Wristband Wristband Comedy?
Wristband Wristband Comedy is a comedy production organization that emphasizes unselfish, inclusive performance. It is the brainchild of Eric Clayton, an artist in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. While producing comedy shows in 2023 he ordered 1000 hot pink wristbands with the word “wristband” on them because he thought it would be funny. And it was! This eventually inspired him to produce his own pop up comedy shows in spaces that cater to the beauty of performative arts.
A Wristband Wristband Comedy show also strives to break the mold of misogynistic mediocrity & mediocre misogyny that’s typically empowered in stand up comedy settings. Wristband Wristband Comedy believes that comedy should be rooted in advanced critical thinking that delights the audience. Humor that “punches down” is the antithesis of intellectual stimulation. Simply put, Wristband Wristband Comedy believes in comedy that is funny.

who is eric Clayton?
Eric Clayton is an artist of many types in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born in a small NC town that’s not actually a town and is actually a “census designated place” (Rougemont, NC), Eric is the bastard child of a very wise Mother and a hard working Mexican man who traveled to NC for seasonal work in the tobacco fields for several years in the early 90’s. While growing up amongst tribulations of extreme poverty he found solace in the 30 minute sitcom. This fixation led to him being classically trained in comedic principles throughout his early childhood development.
In college at UNC he paired up with fellow Tar Heel Kenan Bateman to create UNC’s first stand-up + sketch + improv comedy troupe, False Profits. Immediately after college he worked at the prestigious dive bar Linda’s Bar & Grill and began producing a stand-up comedy showcase in the downstairs bar called “Downbar Standup”. He has performed as an opener for the likes of no one honestly but he did meet Bo Burnham once and also Maria Bamford once and gave her a hug!
